I'm back!!! I feel like every year I start out with a purge of my blog and an apology for being away. This time I have an actual reason why I was away from the blog: My blue laptop bit the dust. The screen would not turn on (even though the computer was technically on), so at that point I was like, "I'm not paying to get it fixed cause it will probably cost as much as a new computer, so I'm just gonna get a new computer." My computer bit the dust in probably September or October. You might be saying to yourself, "Well, now it's January. Did it really take 3-4 months to get a new computer?" Yes, yes it did.
I work at a childcare center that is run by a church. I have a car loan and car insurance every month. I'm behind on my student loans and credit card payments. I have subscriptions to pay and moved onto my own cell phone plan. I had to renew my car registration and my license (I switched to Real ID which was twice as much with the initial payment). My car flunked its inspection because it needed new tires, so I had to pay for four tires (with my Christmas bonus) and pay for a second inspection. Buying it myself wasn't really in the cards for me. I am notorious for not knowing what I want for Christmas, so when my mom asked me what I wanted, the only thing I told her was a new computer. Christmas came around and no computer. I admit I was a little disappointed, but I knew I probably wasn't getting a computer because my family's not made of money and they struggle with some money stuff too. (My dad is starting his own business on the side fixing up people's houses; and we had a situation with our house last year.) The main reason why I wanted a computer was because I will be starting back to school to get my Master's degree, and I am going to Liberty University Online. I kind of needed one since everything for school is online. Then this past Friday came around. I had taken the day off from work in case my sister's cheerleading team made it to states. (They didn't.) Since I had already taken the day off, I was just gonna keep it as a day off. On Thursday my sister came with me to work because she is in cyberschool and my parents were going out of town for my mom's doctor's appointment. My sister needed to get her school done to be eligible for cheerleading (and not get kicked off the squad). My grandpa picked her up for cheerlading, so I decided to go out and harass him about my computer situation. Needless to say, Friday my mom, sister and I met up with my grandpa and I got my new computer. (It's serving as my Christmas and birthday gift from my grandpa and uncle since my birthday is next month.) I now have the Acer Chromebook Spin 11 in Sparkly Silver. I love it. It's a 2-in-1 laptop, so it folds into a tablet. I decided to go with Acer because all my other computers were HP and they didn't last long. (I went through two or three while I was getting my undergraduate degree and my last one was an HP.) I also wasn't getting Dell because they haven't been that great to us either. I also wanted the Chromebook because my cell phone is the Google Pixel 3 and I love it. Also, this computer is touch screen, which is really cool. I am honestly so happy right now because I love my computer so much. (I'm also really tired cause I've been doing schoolwork since I got the computer on Friday, so that's that.) I feel like I have a renewed sense of purpose for this year because my mood is elated and I hope it continues throughout the year. Ciao. XO
